CROTON AYSO

Croton AYSO is a local soccer program based in Croton on Hudson, New York.  Started in 1986, the volunteer run and operated program works to provide a player development based soccer program.  Croton AYSO operates within the AYSO National Guidelines and participated in the Are3T soccer league.  Small Sided soccer and smaller teams encourage greater player development.  Why AYSO?

Croton AYSO specifically offers the following soccer programs:

U5 Jamboree:  This program is designed to offer rudimentary soccer to pre-schoolers.  This parent assisted program is directed by the Master Coach.

U6 Soccer:  This program is designed to offer Kindergartners more soccer experience, and beginning to offer the understanding of team play.

U8 Soccer:  This program is designed to offer 1st and 2nd graders the opportunity for greater player development and team play.  All team play occurs in-house, except when we have odd number of teams and then we coordinate games with the Ossining AYSO program.  The program traditionally offer practices on saturday mornings and games on sunday afternoons.

U9-U16 Primary Soccer:  This program is traditionally designed to provide more training opportunities for players.  Practices traditionally occur on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoon games.  These games are designed to teach game concepts and involve travel to other towns.  Croton AYSO works to schedule as many in-house games as possible, to limit travel.

Croton AYSO Extra:  This program is further discussed on this website, but it is open to U9 and older players who participate in a Player Evaluation.  If the Trainer led evaluations indicate that the player has the skill set for a competitive program, then they are invited to participate in the Croton AYSO Extra program.  Players on these teams are encouraged to continue to participate in the Primary Program, but it is not required.  It is expected that those players who play more soccer will have more "touches" and will achieve a better Player Rating.  Not all participants in Croton AYSO will be invited to participate in Extra, but all are welcome to continue to participate in the Primary Soccer program. Coaches of the Extra teams are expected to fulfill a higher level of coach training, completing a minimum of U12 training and on field training to be completed with Competitive Edge Training program.
